FOOD SENSITIVITY/ALLERGY TESTING
We have recently set up accounts with two companies that offer testing for food allergies and food sensitivities. The following testing is only available on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings.
1. ALCAT:
The ALCAT tests measure the body's cellular response to challenges from a wide array of substances including foods, food additives and colorings, molds, environmental chemicals, and medicinal foods and herbs. The advantage of ALCAT testing is that reactions can be found to foods that have not yet been offered and can be helpful if there is a family history of a particular allergy/sensitivity. ALCAT also offers tests for celiac, telomere length, vitamin D, MTHFR genetic mutations, and adrenal stress. The description for each test panel can be found here.
The ALCAT tests may not be covered by insurance and are therefore payable at the time of service. We are able to offer a 20% discount off the list price. In addition to the test fee there is a $10 blood draw fee. Refer to the Pricing List for complete details. We can provide paperwork that you can submit to insurance for consideration of reimbursement
2. Alletess:
Alletess offers IgE, IgA, and IgG testing for foods, herbs, and spices. Most commonly available food allergy testing that is done through local hospitals or LabCorp only test for IgE levels. Elevated IgE levels indicate a Type I (histamine-mediated) allergy or hypersensitivity. Elevated IgG and IgA levels are not true allergic responses but represent an immunological sensitivity to the food. The disadvantage of antibody testing is that prior exposure is required. Alletess also offers celiac and candida antibody testing as well as various urinary metabolic and hormone tests.
The Alletess tests may not be covered by insurance and are therefore payable at the time of service. In addition to the test fee there is a $25 blood draw and processing fee. Refer to the Pricing List (coming soon) for complete details. We can provide paperwork that you can submit to insurance for consideration of reimbursement
